Life-cycle Analysis/Eco-Design [CEA]

The eco-design approach aims to integrate the environment impact from the design stage of a product or service, and throughout its life cycle. This transversal methodological approach guarantees a global reduction of the environmental impacts of the product-service system with a life cycle vision.

The eco-design service is designed to provide support adapted to every company, depending on the eco-design maturity level: how to size the approach? Who is involved and who takes the lead? What product and up to what extend?

Three services are proposed:

Service 0 (open to everyone)

Whatever the level of maturity of the company in terms of eco-design, the first step is to make the people involved in the project aware of the environmental and societal issues we have to face; to have an overview of the impacts of some technologies and to understand the interest of introducing an eco-design approach. This webinar will also be an opportunity to exchange experiences in eco-design.

Service 1: Pre-diagnosis to identify how to start eco-design in the company.

What product or project to start with?

Business model: how to integrate it, what could be the impact

This service targets company that has no (or very little) knowledge on eco-design and would be interested to integrate the eco-design approach in its strategy. Where to start? Which methodology? How to proceed?

Description
This service consists in going deeper into the eco-design questionnaire in order to define the company’s strategy in terms of an eco-design approach. These questions are based on the four dimensions of i) Innovation Management strategy, ii) Structure, iii) Resources, and iv) Culture. It can be completed by the service 02.

Service 02: Environmental qualitative analysis of the product to identify eco-design leads

Optional : creativity session

How to integrate it with a user-centric approach

Business model: how to integrate it, what will be the impact

This service targets company that has already identified on what product to start eco-design but needs help to determine the leading point. Qualitative life-cycle analysis on the selected product/service in order to identify the main leads, check their pertinence and possibly look for others.

This service is intended for companies that have not yet introduced the eco-design, eco-innovation approach, but that see it as a strong opportunity without knowing where to start.

This service will be based on a qualitative analysis in order to determine some areas for improvement.

Description

This service will take the form of an initial 2-hour meeting to assess their motivation, interest, business, to understand the product, its functions, its use, its recycling, the stakeholders.

Based on the data collected, the CEA will produce a MIME-MIMS matrix
Then a one-day worshop with a diagnostic phase in the morning and an ideation workshop in the afternoon will be set-up.

Service 03 : Environmental quantitative analysis of the product to identify eco-design leads

Optional : creativity session

How to integrate it with a user-centric approach

Business model: how to integrate it, what will be the impact

This service targets company that is already familiar with the eco-design approach, has initiated its deployment and is looking for precise leads in order to confirm and improve its eco-design analysis

Description

A quantitative analysis is proposed based on a simplified life Cycle Analysis of the product/service and results in the proposition of pertinent eco-design leads.

The success of these services lies partly in the involvement of the company, during the data collection, and the knowledge of the involved parties.

The eco-design maturity questionnaire will help the company to identify the maturity level and will guide the company towards the most adapted service.
